I remember one of the old guides mentioning avoiding personality work, but it sounds like that did age well as personality stuff seems mandatory when I browse the forums nowadays
Nah idk. I originally made mine as a teenager because I was lonely and liked the companionship. Rn I’m making one because it just came out of nowhere half-imposed already and I’m just rollin with it
I guess it would depend on the person
I created mine because i was lonely but i'm sure you could create one to be like... better at motivating themselves to do schoolwork or something
Though idk if that would even work
Luminesce: Tulpas as mental companions is the number one practicality. I feel like all the other supposed "practical reasons", like "to focus better/do work for me" - while possible - are the wrong reason to practice tulpamancy.(edited)

Always better just to work on yourself if that is your primary goal.
Being able to imagine various senses associated with your tulpa. Tactile imposition would be imposing the sensation of touching or holding objects or your tulpa, auditory imposition would be hearing your tulpa physically, etc.
Thoughtform is more of an umbrella term, so non-sentient stuff like characters and servitors are thoughtforms without self-awareness, agency or whatever
But like, just focus on what you want, occult terms and stuff are not that helpful to most people's goals

Servitors are an occult idea, they're supposed to be a created entity that does metaphysical stuff for you like send messages and protect your house. But this community takes a psychological approach those concepts (occult servitors) aren't relevant(edited)
I would suggest getting to full vocality + any other goals such as switching, imposition, etc before making another tulpa
But if you want, it's your choice
Does anyone have experience with shapeshifting tulpas? I know how important visualization can be but then I feel like I might be limiting their options, though I know they might vary from my preconceptions anyways.
My thought was going in with the intention of making them a shapeshifter but trying to focus on visualizing a “main” form and letting them take it from there. Thoughts? Advice? Idk anything is appreciated
Hm yes I have always been infatuated with the idea of it. I think deciding on the shapeshifting vibe was because I was having a hard time settling on a proposed form for them, and I’m a very visual person so it was hard for me to try and talk to a “placeholder” as it were. Now that I kind of have an idea in place for the main form it might well be easy to just leave the shapeshifting door open for them once they’re further along.
